Video Games Live(VGL) 2009 in Singapore!

Fri Jun 19, 2009, 6:56 PM
  • Mood: Euphoric
Just came back from the concert last night, my first ever video game concert too and it was the 'bestest best' thing I've ever seen! Thus far at least.

The show opened with "Yuri the only one" and a Ms.Pacman running around in New York video.

The orchestra from NUS, started with the Classical Arcade Medley comprising of many favorite oldies. The Symphony was led by none other than Jack Wall.

Next was music from Metal Gear Solid, they had someone dressed up as a guard with an exclamation mark run around on stage along with Tommy Tallarico in a cardboard box. I can't remember the order, but here are the songs that were played:

-Metal Gear Solid
-Sonic the Hedgehog
-Diablo 3
-10 Final Fantasy piano songs performed by Martin Leung
-Space Invaders (they made a guy play this with a motion tracking T-shirt, Tasmanian teacher pretty cool)
-Guitar Hero Aerosmith (for a competition, the symphony played along to the tune of 'Sweet Emotion';)
-Kingdom Hearts
-Legend of Zelda
-Tron
-World of Warcraft
-Super Mario Series
-Tetris piano solo performed by Martin Leung
-Super Mario piano solo performed by Martin Leung
-Metroid (debut) (2nd most requested song)
-Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross (debut), Jack Wall on accoustic for Chrono Cross, Tommy Tallarico on guitar for both. (1st most requested song)
-Metal Gear Solid 3, Snake Eat. Music Composer Norihiko Hibino on sax.
-Halo 1 & 2 - Tommy Tallarico on E.guitar.
-Hale 3 - Tommy Tallarico on E.guitar. Performance ended here.

Encore performances:

-One Winged Angel, Tommy Tallarico on E.guitar.
-Castlevania rock ver. Tommy Tallarico on E.guitar, Martin Leung on organ.

Practically every track gave me goosebumps on goosebumps (except space invaders XD). It was great, though I would have loved to hear Mass Effect and the Tom Clancey Medley, but I'm not complaining. Gonna remember this for a long time, till the next concert XD

Thanks so much to my lecturer (well ex-lecturer so now friend XD) for giving me his ticket. It was really really great!
